Long road rides and no ipod, no problem song one in brain is  this Dylan.Love the ghost face Dylan years.Back in the '70s i remember Sunday drives in the family car for an adventure !  exploring where ever a road goes..These days that's how I treat my bike rides. .Still riding road cause of the snow.
just past the stink aka Santa Fe sewage treatment.

looking south, think I'll go that way

riding thru narrow roads of Villa de la Swamp

Sweet green and terraced ,those folks have some $ to spend on landscaping.

looking south @ Bonaza creek ranch and a cholla field.
 spring shave and new helmet.
Peace out.

I must admit ,I have an attraction to church architecture This church begs me to climb it but I'm too chicken shit ,old and weak.A little warmer temps have hit the area so the plaza was seeing alot more action than last time I rode thru.
I started feeling the sniffels this morning when I woke up.Really bums me out just when the weather is getting warm and the day light lasts past 7 pm ,I start to feel a cold coming on.First cold in about 2 or 3 years, fucking social caused illnesses.I was able to squeak out a meager 30 miler with out much effort given my conditions.Beautiful day .
San Antonio mountain in  the distance, really far distance.
Cockle Bur,yes its edible.
here's a little list of companion plants in you veggy garden.I may post a longer version in the near future.
Tomatoes like to be planted next to chives, onion, parsley, marigold.nasturtiums, carrots,They dislike being planted next to Kohlrabi, potato, fennel, cabbage.
Peas like carrots, turnips, radishes, cucumbers, corn, beans, most vegetables and herbs.Dislikes of peas be planted next to onions, garlic, potato. You want a more detailed list let me know and I will post one up.
leave you with Yeasayer, love this song.

Somedays No Jacket others Yes Jacket

Galisteo Church

Did a lovely 200 minute [50-60 miles?]  ride on Saturday what I call the Galisteo loop. From the house I started east to old Las Vegas hwy.passing up a chance to eat a great hamburger @ BobcatBiteI spun my way thru Eldorado,NM.Anticipating the view I'm about to get when I drop down to the Galisteo Basin.
the view over looking the ranch I use to work on back in the late 90's.

No longer a single family owned and operated ranch. The recent news is that its to be subdivided and developed into ,I could really careless, something.
Few miles down the road is the village of Galisteo,NM. Host to the best rodeo I've ever been too.Rivals the bloodiest Central American rodeo you can imagine.Pure authenticity.
blink and you'll miss it.
Galisteo street life.
Galisteo zoo in the distance.
plant life along the roadway

Then Sunday I had the itch to hike Atalaya Mtn.
Alot of ice on the frequently used trails.
Over looking Sun and Moon Mtn.'s
A storm was moving in pretty fast .When I reached the top the sun broke thru the clouds for about 30 seconds.
Then once again the snow socked me in.
Right before I 'post hole' my way down.

3/13/10

you got that right.
Went out to Cerrillos hills state park on Friday to ride with Robert and get a little dirt back in my blood. Its been about 3 weeks since the last time I got on my mountain bike.No matter how many hours I spend riding the road every time i get back on single track trails it feels like I've sat on my ass for the past weeks {partially true}. looking down @ the hamlet of Cerrillos.

Oldest working mines in North America are in these hills. And its was the turquoise source for  the Tiffany co. around the turn of 1900's.Theres alot of history and interesting things in those badlands.
And alot of character in the locals that live there.
I betcha Blaze Foley /R.I.P/would of  blended into this landscape .One of the few cover songs I took time out to learn.Blazes song writing is right up there with Townes and seeing tears come out of the old timer in this video is one of those moments in life ...and then there's the one with them together
 a yerba buena stop .
Peace

Just a brick in the wall

The snow shovel quit Monday. I'll treat it like the average American employee {dime a dozen} and replace it with  new and improved model. Harsh but true.OK, now that my social/political statement is out of the way.
Our winter has been epic .Ski Santa Fe has over a hundred inches as a base. Its been awhile since that has happened.Spring melt is going to come on  fast and work is going to  be a struggle in keeping up with all the rototilling ,planting and irrigation start up that I have to do.Not to mention this is what I came to Monday morning. The garden shacks wall tumbled down.
Rotten viga .
The canale failed and was leaking down the unfinished adobe interior wall.Which resulted in this.More snow in the forecast for this week, too.Better car jack that up with some 2x4's for support before the whole roof  collapses.

,
Some audio to leave you with my pretties,Ladies and Gents I give to you a very  special session with Amanda Palmer.

My mind goes blank

First of all I think Barry is too smart for the job.
Man, I could really use that health care plan that you were talking about.Every doctor visit for me is paid for with cold hard cash out of my pocket.Yeah,NM has a state health care system for its citizens .Last time I applied, I was denied 'cause they were not accepting any new applicants.Fuck me too...anyways I could take stabs at the obvious,I'll leave that to the media.Any idiot can point out the bullshit and cry.moving right along
Blue Tape art by yours truly

Ack gotta go see the Quack.

Hope he has small hands. You know getting a check up and trying  to correctly describe, to the doc,  that funny feeling i get when climbing a rope up a tree.Wish me well, I get scared as shit before these visits to the Doc.Maybe I need a female doctor....hmmm
That Bush family has real class.

The tumble weed.

Another day and another road.Trying to get in decent shape so  instead of a suffering slog fest thru the woods  it becomes an enjoyable summer epic kind of ride..Tumble weed season is just starting. Some days are simply crazy trying to dodge the rolling tumbleweed .

Suffer you Fucker.

There will be fish and games aheadand a few empty miles of this

I need to ride on some dirt real soon cause I'm beginning to like this road thing too much.

Now that would be a shocker.pun intended.

I leave you with this little piece of wisdom.
